Current
Nelson Biodiversity Strategy and Forum
The Nelson City Council has become a national leader and exemplar in biodiversity management. With our facilitation and technical support the Council has moved into collaboration with 27 other organisations and developed Nature Nelson and the Nelson Biodiversity Forum. The role of our work in this success was acknowledged by the Mayor of Nelson in the launch of Nature Nelson in July 2015. For more information including the Nelson Biodiversity Strategy can be found at http://nelson.govt.nz/environment/biodiversity-2/.
Top of the South Marine Biosecurity Partnership and Strategy
The Top of the South Marine Biosecurity Strategy was developed by The Lawless Edge Ltd on behalf of central and regional government in Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough. The Partnership now includes industry, tangata whenua and regional organisations with an interest in the marine environment. We have developed a wide range of innovative programmes coordinating the partnership, providing front line operations, manuals, website, newsletters, science support, publications and the development of an industry network. We are now working on regional marine biosecurity pathways management. For more information see http://www.marinebiosecurity.co.nz/.
Te Korowai o te Tai o Marokura, the Kaikoura Coastal Marine Guardians
The Kaikoura (Te Tai o Marokura) Marine Management Act 2014 was a direct result of our work over eight years with the Kaikoura community. The Act implements in part the 2012 integrated Strategy that we drafted with the incorporated society and we are still supporting full implementation and ongoing resourcing of the vision for the seas around Kaikoura. This project was awarded the Green Ribbon for protecting our coasts in 2015. For more information see http://www.teamkorowai.org.nz/.
